Hiring Horseback Riding Instructor (Part-Time/Contract)

We are a program that offers both traditional horseback riding lessons and therapeutic riding lessons to our clients. We are dedicated to developing confident, balanced riders of all ages and levels. We emphasize strong horsemanship, biomechanics, and a thoughtful, ethical approach to training for horse and rider.


Job Summary


We are seeking an experienced and passionate horseback riding instructor to teach private and group lessons and lead seasonal camps. This role involves working with riders from beginners through advanced levels in a supportive and structured environment.


Responsibilities


  • Safely teach private and group riding lessons
  • Plan and lead camps, clinics, and educational programs
  • Teach:
  • Horsemanship
  • Hunter equitation, under saddle, and over fences
  • Dressage fundamentals & dressage pyramid
  • Incorporate:
  • Natural horsemanship principles
  • Biomechanics and rider effectiveness
  • Centered and balanced riding
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
  • Assist with general barn operations as needed
  • Train and exercise program horses
  • Communicate professionally with riders and families
  • Travel to shows with students


Required Qualifications


  • Experience teaching horseback riding lessons beginning through advanced
  • Strong understanding of safety, horse care, and behavior
  • Strong background in equitation, dressage fundamentals, and hunter/jumper
  • Ability to teach riders of all ages and levels


Preferred Qualifications

  • Western riding instruction experience
  • Camp management experience
  • Background in biomechanics or centered riding methods
  • Certifications (CHA, PATH Intl., USHJA, USDF, or similar)

Schedule & Compensation
