Private Therapeutic Riding Lessons
Therapeutic riding uses the movement of the horse as a powerful tool for physical, cognitive, and emotional growth. PETRA is a PATH International member center, held to the industry's highest standards for safety, instruction, and horse welfare:
- Safety is the foundation of every session — therapeutic riders are introduced to horses gradually, with trained sidewalkers and a PATH Int'l member instructor present throughout every lesson
- The horse does some of the work — the natural rhythmic motion of a horse at the walk closely mimics the human gait, delivering sensory, core, and neuromuscular benefits unique to equine-assisted activities
- Every lesson plan is individualized — goals may focus on balance and core strength, fine motor skills, communication, attention, emotional regulation, or simply the joy of connecting with a horse
- Ground activities are part of the experience — grooming, leading, and caring for the horse extend the therapeutic benefit well beyond the saddle
- Appropriate for a wide range of abilities — we'll discuss your rider's needs, goals, and any accommodations during the introductory evaluation
- Progress is never rushed — our instructors meet each rider exactly where they are, every session
- Caregivers are valued partners — your observations and goals are an essential part of your rider's program
At PETRA, the horse is more than a vehicle for riding — it's a partner in your rider's growth, healing, and joy.
